The New Apostolic Church has a new Chief Apostle. During the Pentecost service, Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider ordained his designated successor, Helge Mutschler.

He is not yet Chief Apostle. Yet at the District Apostles’ Meeting in Cape Town, he already highlighted two priorities: pastoral care as a focus and the continuation of teamwork as a method.
This is the last District Apostles’ Meeting before Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider hands over the reins to his designated successor.
The members who gathered in Hanover Park church expected District Apostle Herman Ernst for their midweek divine service on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, but instead received a surprise visitor: Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider.
After arriving safely in Cape Town during the course of the week, the Chief Apostle Helper, District Apostles, and District Apostle Helpers from around the globe conducted midweek divine services in congregations across the Western Cape on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.
