New Apostolic Church
Southern Africa
Sunday School Apostle Area Coordinators from across Southern Africa gathered in Cape Town for the NACSA Sunday School Conference from 11 to 13 September 2026.
Held in person every two years, the conference, under the guidance of Apostle Gavin van der Hoven and facilitated by Priest Reuben Scheepers, created a space for open discussions and engagement. The Pastoral Pillars and their connection to the mission and vision of the Church formed an integral part of the session, also providing an opportunity to reflect on how the principles continue to guide the work of Sunday School, while feedback from the recent focus group sessions provided insights to support the continued development of Sunday School.
A special session on safeguarding our children highlighted the need for continued vigilance and awareness while reinforcing the role Sunday School teachers play in recognising, responding to, and supporting the well-being of our children.
The conference was an interactive and collaborative event, with a willingness among the coordinators to listen and learn from one another. One common thread was evident throughout the team: a deep love for the Sunday School children and a shared commitment to their spiritual well-being.
The weekend closed with the team renewed in their enthusiasm for God's work. They now look forward to taking the teachings and sharing the information in their respective areas.
