The Rhodes Quality Half Marathon 2026 took place on Friday, 1 May, in Wellington, bringing together runners from across South Africa to celebrate endurance, community, and the spirit of road and trail running. Held on Workers’ Day, the event has grown into one of the Boland region’s premier running events, offering various race categories including the flagship 21.1 km half marathon, as well as 10 km, 5 km, and trail runs. The race began early in the morning, with the main half marathon starting at 07:00 and concluding at Hugenote High School, creating a vibrant and festive finish-line atmosphere.

The event is known for its inclusivity and diverse participation, attracting both competitive athletes and recreational runners. Participants had the option to choose between road and trail distances, allowing individuals of different fitness levels to engage in the event. Among these participants were a few of our New Apostolic Church members who braved the cloudy weather and came to show off their fitness skills. The NAC young people set up a booth near the end of the race, where all participants could see the emblem before ending their kilometres as a means of motivation and an invitation to come enjoy some fellowship after their completion. The young people handed out goody bags to all runners who participated in the race, and the gesture was met with immense excitement and surprise by the racers. Members met, compared running times and even discussed their future running and sporting goals for the upcoming year. It was truly a beautiful experience of fellowship and endurance.
