Silencing the earth in us

District Apostle Peter Lambert conducted a festive divine service in Scottsdene Congregation, Kraaifontein District, on Sunday, 27 July 2025.

He was accompanied by Apostles Gavin van der Hoven, Bradley Bourne, Fredericks Lekay, and Neville Williams, as well as the Bishops of Cape Town.

As members gathered in anticipation, the congregation was uplifted by sweet and harmonious sounds from the organ, choir, orchestra, recorders, and Sunday School choir.

The District Apostle used a Bible text from Habakkuk 2:20 as a basis for the sermon, “But the Lord is in His holy temple. Let all the earth keep silence before Him.”

Apostles Neville Williams and Bradley Bourne were also called upon to serve.

Before the conclusion of the divine service, Bishop Bradley Adonis was called to the altar to be placed into retirement after nearly 39 years of dedicated ministerial service. The District Apostle thanked the Bishop for his heart of service, not only as a minister but also as a valued colleague who played a leading role in portfolios such as Ministerial Training and the Sunday School Workgroup. He extended his heartfelt gratitude and well wishes to the Bishop, his wife, and children for their unwavering support over the years.

After the closing prayer and benediction, the choir and orchestra concluded the divine service with the leaflet, “God of our Fathers.” The congregation was invited to join in singing the final verse, thereby creating a deeply moving and blessed end to the divine service.

The District Apostle then greeted and interacted with members.
