On Saturday, 24 May 2025, Sunday School Coordinators from across our District Apostle Area gathered for the second session in our leadership training series to focus on the theme of leadership accountability.
The session was facilitated by Deacon Reuben Scheepers and held via MS Teams from the Bedfordview office. Coordinators joined from various hybrid venues, where groups met in person in church buildings and connected online, while others joined individually. Those who joined on their own were still able to fully participate in group discussions through the virtual breakaway rooms.
As part of the session, coordinators shared their thoughts on why leadership accountability is important. There was a strong agreement across the groups that leadership accountability means leading by example, building trust, and aligning everyone towards a common purpose. Coordinators also reflected on the behaviour of a cohesive team and how team culture influences outcomes. Through group work and open discussions, ideas were shared on what can be done differently to improve accountability. Coordinators expressed their enthusiasm to return to their respective areas and put these ideas into action.
At the heart of it all was a shared reminder: we hold ourselves and one another accountable because we are working towards a common goal — the future of our children and their spiritual lives.
