Inspiring! A Spirit-filled celebration of music and unity

Spectacular, stirring, and deeply inspiring—these are but a few of the expressions that capture the atmosphere of the 2026 Pentecost concert hosted at the Silvertown Auditorium in Cape Town on Saturday evening, 23 May 2026.

On the eve of Pentecost Sunday, members and guests gathered in eager anticipation for an evening of sacred music that unfolded into a remarkable celebration of faith, artistry, and fellowship.

Following the opening prayer by Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider, a rich and diverse programme began to unfold, captivating the audience from the very first note. Contributions by the choir, orchestra, youth choir, and various soloists blended harmoniously to create a musical experience of exceptional calibre. The carefully curated programme reflected both reverence and joy, with each performance adding colour and depth to the evening’s Spirit-filled atmosphere. Performances ranged from ‘How great Thou art’ by Stuart Hine, arranged by Wesley Pietersen, to a rousing rendition of ‘Pentecostal power’, and an SA medley, a South African Traditional performed by a soloist, the young people's choir, and a djembe.

The two choirs performed the final three items together. As the young people's choir moved to the front of the stage for these items, they uniquely followed the choir conductor via two screens positioned at the back of the hall.

The concert carried particular significance as it marked Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider’s final Pentecost concert as international leader of the New Apostolic Church before his retirement during the Pentecost divine service in Tafelsig on Sunday, 24 May 2026. This lent the evening an added sense of gratitude and reflection.

At the conclusion of the concert, the Chief Apostle addressed the audience, thanking the musicians for an inspiring concert. “It was just incredible! Listening to your voices and instruments was a true delight. Feeling the vibrations of your heart and soul was a true blessing. This concert was inspiring because you are inspired.” The Chief Apostle’s words provided a fitting close to an evening marked by heartfelt appreciation, spiritual warmth, and joyful unity.

The impressive concert on the evening before Pentecost Sunday 2026 came to a magnificent close with a final combined performance of ‘Thanks be to God’ by all participating musicians, joined enthusiastically by the audience. The auditorium resonated with song, creating a powerful moment of togetherness that will remain etched in the memories of all who attended.

Now, with hearts uplifted and spirits renewed, the anticipation turns toward the Pentecost 2026 divine service in Tafelsig tomorrow.
