The members who gathered in Hanover Park church expected District Apostle Herman Ernst for their midweek divine service on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, but instead received a surprise visitor: Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider.
The Chief Apostle’s unannounced presence filled the church with joy and excitement. The members were visibly happy to see the Chief Apostle at the altar while they were singing the opening hymn!
Members from Hanover Park, Newfields, Athlone, Belthorn, Crawford, Lincoln Estate, Lansdowne, Ottery and Yorkshire Estate congregations were invited to the divine service.
The Bible text for the divine service was taken from 2 Timothy 1:14, "That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us."
During the divine service, the Chief Apostle called upon District Apostle Herman Ernst to serve along.
The surprise encounter, which was also the last midweek divine service conducted by the Chief Apostle before he is placed into retirement on Pentecost Sunday, will surely remain in the hearts of all who were present on this memorable occasion for a long time to come!
