The sound of hundreds of voices singing “To God Be the Glory” filled Olympus Congregation on Sunday, 23 August 2026, setting the tone for an evening where music would become an expression of faith.
Courage to Believe, presented by the New Apostolic Church Gauteng Concert Choirs and Orchestra, was more than a musical celebration. The benefit concert also brought everyone together in support of the Masakhe Foundation.
From the triumphant Therefore the Redeemed of the Lord to the joyful rhythms of Rea Lotšha and Botho, the programme unfolded as a journey. The voices of the children’s choir brought their own special warmth, while pieces such as Why We Sing and Abide with Me carried the audience through moments of joy and reflection.
As the final notes faded, the purpose behind the evening came beautifully into focus. District Apostle Peter Lambert handed over a cheque of R300 000 to the CEO of the Masakhe Foundation. During the handover, the District Apostle left the audience with a simple reminder that captured the spirit of the evening: “It’s always time to do good.”
