On Monday 3 June 2024, a monster tornado ravaged the town of Tongaat in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
At least twelve people died, and thousands were left homeless. Various organisations immediately swung into action to assist with disaster relief.
The congregations in Durban had earlier engaged in the Together We Can initiative by NAC-SA and Masakhe.
Given the Tongaat disaster, this was expanded to include blankets, towels, clothing and baby products.
On Saturday 29 June, representatives of the Durban and North Coast District travelled to Tongaat to deliver products that had been donated by our congregants.
A drive was taken around one of the communities affected by the disaster.
