On Sunday 12 May 2024, the congregation of Allenby celebrated the church building's 50th anniversary.
Formerly known as Nectar Road Congregation, Allenby Congregation was inaugurated on 12 May 1974, by the late District Apostle Gut.
On 11 May 2024, Allenby congregants and members from neighbouring congregations shared their talents in a 50th anniversary celebratory choral. The church hall was packed with familiar faces, including Apostle B Bourne, Bishop L Ravell and Priest G Jacobs, District Rector for Muizenberg district. Rectors who previously led the congregation, as well as past and present Allenby congregants, also joined the festivities. Attendees thoroughly enjoyed the anthems the orchestra and choir rendered, and let's not forget the Sunday School children, who received a mighty round of applause! To add to the festive occasion, Apostle Bourne acknowledged the attendance of the oldest congregant, sister Margaret Paulsen, who, by God's grace, will turn 100 years old in a few days.
The following day, Bishop Ravell served the congregation of Allenby with the assistance of Priest Godwin Jacobs to lead this most blessed and monumental divine service.
