The Congregational Young People Leaders from the Southern Cape Apostle area gathered in Mossel Bay and Oudsthoorn, respectively, for training over the weekend of 20 April 2024.
The venue for those who gathered in Oudsthoorn was the Cango Mountain resort outside of Oudsthoorn.
The young people leaders travelled from Beaufort West, Oudsthoorn, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, and the furthest point, Rietbron, some 300 km away.
Weeks before, the young people were informed that there was no cellphone signal at the venue.
After they registered, unpacked, and settled in, the leaders enjoyed much needed refreshment.
District Elder Carl Dreyer, who is the pastoral leader for young people in the Southern Cape, welcomed all, and soon the agenda was underway.
First a spiritual workshop with various Bible readings and discussions, then the topics of leadership and communication took the day to lunch.
Deacon Nathan Cronje, the Apostle area young people leader, commenced the session after lunch and handled various sections of the youth care guide, sharing the building blocks concept.
The day concluded when an update and further information regarding the Dare2Care weekend in August were shared with the group in preparation for when District Apostle Lambert will be visiting the area.
After the group enjoyed a braai for supper, much needed leisure time could be spent before making their way to bed.
On Sunday 21 April, the group accompanied District Elder Dreyer to Oudsthoorn congregation before departing for their various destinations.
