What an incredible Sunday afternoon it was at Vanderbijlpark Congregation when the congregation came together to celebrate the Easter season with a truly moving Easter play on 24 March 2024.
With hearts full of anticipation and spirits lifted high, congregations from the Vaal Triangle District joined together for this special event.
The District Evangelist Ernst Kuchenbecker opened the proceedings with a heartfelt prayer, setting the tone for an afternoon filled with faith and fellowship.
Before the curtains rose, the souls of the attendees were uplifted by the soul-stirring melodies of the orchestra and choir, skillfully conducted by Deacon Jessica Hunt, Deacon Joshua Meintjies and Sister Belinda Lombard.
Their music filled the air with reverence and anticipation, preparing all for the powerful story about to unfold.
As the sun dipped low in the sky, families gathered with picnic baskets in hand, eagerly awaiting the start of the play.
And what a play it was!
Every member of the congregation, from the youngest Sunday School children to seasoned church members, played their part with passion and dedication.
Under the guidance of the organisers, Rector, Priest Hendrik Bester, Sister Magda Bester, and the talented team led by Christine van der Merwe, the parking area of the church was transformed into the streets of Jerusalem and the solemn grounds of Golgotha.
It was a sight to behold.
The congregation was also blessed to have the Meintjies family from Pretoria join them, lending their musical talents and adding to the beauty of the performance.
Throughout the play, the audience was led through a journey of the poignant scenes of Palm Sunday, the Last Supper, and the heart-wrenching Crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Each moment was a testament to the power of faith and the enduring message of love and redemption.
The Easter Play was not only a success but a deeply moving experience for all who attended.
