Much time and effort is placed on preparing our Confirmands for their journey to their Confirmation Day. In the Gauteng Mpumalanga Apostle Area, that was most certainly the case during the Confirmands Camp on the weekend of October 20–22, 2023 at the Camp Seriti venue in Bronkhorstspruit.
Upon arrival on Friday, an air of excitement at registration and check-in was palpable and continued to hit high notes through the icebreaker session and an awesome noot-vir-noot competition to complete the evening.
Saturday activities started off with a gathering of vibrantly attired teams ready to take on the day; not even the unplanned water interruption dampened the spirit. After breakfast, the group was addressed by Apostle Jerry Joubert, Sister Stephnie Klaasen (Apostle area Sunday School leader) and Priest Brian Basson (Apostle area Young People leader) about the expectations of the camp and the journey of taking the next steps in their journey of faith.
After a short break, the Confirmands were treated to a number of life skills and faith-based topics prepared by the Young People and Sunday School leaders from each of the districts.
The planned activities for the day concluded with a reflection session where our Confirmands had to present which presentation touched them most and how they would apply it in their lives!
Sunday was crowned with a beautiful, blessed moment at God’s altar. Apostle Joubert conducted a divine service and used the Bible word from Jeremiah 29:11 as basis for the sermon.
The weekend concluded after the divine service with check-out and travel procedures and a travel lunch pack for the journey home.
