On Youth Day 16 June 2022, the Young People from congregations in the Worcester district came together for a cricket tournament at the grounds of De Tuinen Primary School. Teams from Johnson Park, Rawsonville, Reiersvlei, Roodewal, Worcester South and even a Ministers team competed for the top prize.
Blessed with absolutely beautiful weather for cricket, and buoyed by an ever-increasing crowd, the players portrayed a vast array of cricketing skills in batting, bowling and fielding. Reiersvlei and Roodewal eventually contested a high-quality final after the other teams were blown away by them.
After setting Rawsonville 96 runs to win in the allotted 10 overs, the Roodewal team simply just blew them away to win by a whopping 58 runs.
Their delight, and that of the crowd, was boosted when Apostle Peter Lambert handed the winners trophy to them. So on to next year’s tournament we go….
