On Thursday 7 September 2023, Apostle Gavin Van Der Hoven conducted a special divine service in Durbanville congregation for the district of Durbanville where all ministers, coordinators and spouses were invited.
As basis for the divine service, a Bible word from Mark 7:37 was used, 'And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He makes both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.”'
Bishop Jerome Cook and District Elder Deon Dry were also called on to serve.
During the service, District Elder Dry was put on a leave of absence, and Priest Joseph Bronkhorst (previous District Rector of the Atlantis District) was reinstated as District Rector for the Durbanville district.
During the reinstatement, the Apostle explained the role of the District Rector and encouraged the growth of the district culture so that all congregations in the district are cared for.
