On Wednesday 23 August 2023, the development orchestra and choir of Plumstead District accompanied the District Rector, Shepherd Zane Pillay, for the midweek divine service in Claremont congregation.
The Bible word that formed the basis of the service was taken out of Hebrews 12:1.
The development orchestra and choir were formed to create a joyful feeling of playing and singing together, and to foster fellowship. Being a newly formed district, it is important to make use of the most available resource, music, to bring back the fellowship in the congregations.
The aim of the orchestra is to encourage members to dust off their instruments, start playing again, and to develop the congregational orchestra. The aim of the choir is to develop the quality of voice, sound and to continue finding joy in singing songs of praise. Once a month, both the choir and orchestra perform in the district to bring praise and honour to our members, followed by fellowship.
The District Rector opened the service by thanking the members of the choir and orchestra for enhancing the divine service through their singing and playing, and for their labours of love and sacrifices. Reflecting on the Bible word.
The message of the divine service was clear: we run our race of faith with patience and endurance. We look to Jesus, who endured difficult circumstances and is the perfect example of patience for us.
