New Apostolic Church
Southern Africa
Apostle area Sunday School co-ordinators from South Africa and Namibia met with Apostle G van der Hoven and Bishop B Adonis in The Friendly City of Gqeberha from 21-23 July 2023. The excitement was tangible, the air electrifying as members of the team arrived.
The programme for the conference included group and plenary discussions on various topics such as early childhood spiritual development, the principles of Sunday School and the Sunday School Ecosystem. The highlight of the conference was being educated by two volunteer park rangers (members of the church) on what an ecosystem is and the importance thereof. After the presentation, the focus changed from the environmental ecosystem to a Sunday School ecosystem. Team members were introduced to the components of a Sunday School ecosystem and group discussions were held to identify the various roles and responsibilities of each component. This interactive session generated robust conversation culminating in the realisation that EVERY component of the ecosystem is of importance in order to make Sunday School GREAT.
On the last day of the conference, team members accompanied Apostle G Mintoor, Apostle G Van der Hoven and Bishop B Adonis to various congregations. Thereafter, workshops were held with Sunday School co-ordinators and teachers in the various areas on the implementation of the new curriculum.
Team members departed exhausted, yet invigorated to share their knowledge and experiences with Sunday School co-ordinators and teachers in their various areas of responsibility.
