Jesus looks at the heart

On Wednesday 19 July 2023, Apostle W Von Schaeffer conducted a divine service in Colville Congregation, Kimberley.

As basis for this divine service, the Apostle used a Bible word out of Luke 18:11, "The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector."

In the eyes of God, the important thing is our heart’s attitude. Jesus points to the danger of over-confidence and self-righteousness. God alone is capable of judging sin and guilt. We try to model our lives on the gospel, which says that everything is God's grace.

During the divine service, 25 souls received the gift of the Holy Spirit through the act of Holy Sealing. Priest Charles van Wyk and Deacon Clive Temm were also placed into retirement. The Apostle thanked them and their families for their sacrifices in the Lord’s work. Furthermore, joy was experienced when 3 ministers were ordained for the congregations of Homevale and Colville: Deacon Basil Williams was ordained as Priest for Homevale congregation, and the Brothers Errol Feltman and Emile Langeveldt received the Deacon ministry for Colville congregation. The choir concluded with a beautiful rendition of  the hymn“Lord, Lord we thank thee now."
