The bitterly cold weather and persistent rain could not dampen the joyful spirit of members streaming to the Lord’s house on Sunday, 18 June 2023.
The reason for their joy was the visit of Apostle Helper Peter Lambert, accompanied by the newly ordained Apostle Neville Williams. Also invited to this festive divine service were all the Rectors of the newly formed Bellville Apostle Area, as well as the Rectors of the Athlone District and their spouses.
This joyous occasion was further enhanced with the appointment of Priest David Smith as the District Rector for the Athlone District, the appointment of Shepherd Brian Mabotha as District Rector for the Bellville District as well the appointment of the following Rectors: Priest Grant Lange as Rector for Erica East Congregation, Community Evangelist Martin Mullins as Rector for Dunrobin Congregation and Priest Quinton Williams as Rector for the Norwood Congregation.
The divine service ended with the rousing singing of the choir, accompanied by the orchestra and organ, of the hymn “Lift up your heads O ye gates”. The hymn ended with the congregation joining the choir by singing the last portion, “All hail the power of Jesus’ name.”
