Belmont Park celebrated it’s 50th anniversary

The congregation of Belmont Park in Kraaifontein celebrated it’s 50th anniversary of the church building in the beginning of June. The congregation had a two-day celebration, with a music hour on Saturday, 3 June 2023 and a special divine service on Sunday, 4 June 2023.

Apostle Gavin Van Der Hoven opened the music hour with a prayer and welcomed everyone. A host of events that led to this special 50th jubilee celebrations were arranged, such as community outreaches, soup kitchens, and a fun walk. This was all aimed at creating awareness of the New Apostolic Church as part of the community in order to serve our neighbour.

On Sunday 4 June 2023, Apostle Gavin Van Der Hoven conducted a special divine service. This was the highlight of a very special weekend. The congregation was blessed with special gifts of Holy Sealing and ordinations which added to the joy and celebrations. Six babies received the gift of the Holy Spirit, and 1 Priest and 3 Deacons were ordained.

Invited to the service were all previous Rectors and District Rectors (all retired), together with the retired Apostle Peter Thompson. A special hymn was composed by Gavin Julius and lyrics by Roger Hughes for this occasion and performed for the first time. The name of this hymn is “The place wherein Your honour dwells”.

The weekend was rounded off by a formal lunch at Kraaifontein Civic Centre for the entire congregation and guests.
