On Saturday 20 May 2023, the young people of Eastridge District, Mitchells Plain, gathered at Tafelsig Church, the host venue for the Pentecost divine service, to clean up the community area surrounding the church.

Close to 160 young people, armed with gloves and refuse bags, set to work at 9 a.m. and picked up litter in the area surrounding the church. The excitement was palpable, and the young people collected more than 100 bags of refuse, which will be collected by the municipality in the coming days. Young people from adjacent districts also pitched in to lend a hand!

The District Apostle surprised the young people by visiting the clean-up project at 10:30 a.m., thanked them for their wonderful example within the community, and wished them well over the coming blessed period. He then also made time to interact with the young people and take a group photo. The District Apostle was accompanied by Apostle B Bourne, Bishop G James, and the Priest D Paulse, together with several Rectors of the Eastridge District, who helped clean up the community with the young people of Eastridge District.   

The morning concluded with all having a boerewors roll, cold drink and enjoying fellowship with each other.
