On Sunday 22 January 2023, District Elder B Scholtz, District Rector of Lavistown District, together with the District Rector of Welgelegen District, Community Evangelist R Beelders, handed over school clothes, shoes and stationery to Rectors of three congregations in the Lavistown District, as well as a local NGO. 

The back-to-school items were generously donated by members of the Welgelegen and Lavistown districts. In November 2022, the two District Rectors and Sister D Viret came up with a much-needed campaign to help learners in their districts with back-to-school supplies.

This was the first year that it was run and they are hoping to build on this project going forward.

Recipients included the congregations of Valhalla Park, Golden Gate and Kalksteenfontein, as well as Pastor Wesley Moodley, founder of the ‘Centre for Excellence’, a local NGO servicing Bishop Lavis, Bonteheuwel, Elsies River and surrounds.
