The church in Sarepta was abuzz with excitement as the Cape Winelands Apostle Area choir and orchestra prepared themselves for the last 'Christmas in the Winelands' concert for 2022.
The choir and orchestra, under the leadership of Priest Edwin Pennings, soon settled in to give a high-class performance that will live on in the hearts of those in attendance for years to come. This was the choir's third 'Christmas in the Winelands' concert in a short time period.
Priest Pennings told those in attendance that the choir and orchestra from all over the Cape Winelands area had been practising for six months. He also invited those in attendance to become part of the choir in 2023.
"O come all ye faithful" set the tone for the programme to come. Beautiful solo pieces, soprano and baritone, as well as wonderful orchestral music, moved the hearts of the congregants.
The well-known Christmas songs had the audience in full voice, some singing along, others nodding their heads and others clapping in jubilation.
The 'Christmas Medley' got the audience in full voice. Too soon the festive concert came to an end and in appreciation of the choir, orchestra and their leaders, a standing ovation was the order of the day.
The District Rector Leonard Wilson then took the opportunity to thank everyone for their sacrifices and concluded the event with prayer.
