On Saturday 26 November 2022, around 70 confirmands set out into the Kylemore Mountains for a morning hike. This was followed by a mental health bonding session and a sports day. The excitement was shared by all in attendance.
The day was opened with a prayer by the District Rector, District Evangelist Wayne Cicilie and then the confirmands set out into the mountains. It was an hour-and-a-half walk filled with conversations and laughs.
After the walk was completed, the confirmands set out to Kylemore Sports Ground and Clubhouse for a mental health talk. Their mentor, Corné Hendricks, touched on the following three points to allow the confirmands to stay mentally strong:
1. Take pride in your name, and let others not abuse your name.
2. Remember the friends you surround yourself with can and will break you down and drain you mentally.
3. Substance abuse does not solve emotions, it only hides them.
After the talk, there was a relay competition and soccer and touch rugby was played. Thereafter, the confirmands enjoyed lunch before departing home with joy and excitement for what more is to come.
