On Saturday 15 October 2022, young people from various congregations of the Buffalo City District, including Mdantsane, Ndevana, Kei Road, Dimbaza, Keiskammahoek and Hogsback, joined together and set off to Hobbiton Outdoor Education Centre situated in Hogsback, Eastern Cape.

Their day started off with a prayer and a meet-and-greet session whereafter the young people leaders and the young people introduced themselves to each other.  They were also briefed on their schedule and the ultimate purpose of the weekend. 

They sat down to enjoy a delicious breakfast and started their outdoor programme thereafter.  Much excitement was in the air as they were ready for action, rearing to commence their scheduled activities offered by Hobbiton.

The activities ranged from outdoor endurance activities, team building, facing fears, and personal development activities such as displaying trust in each other as well as respect for each other, to mention but a few. 

After having an amazing, fun-filled, as well as educational afternoon, the young people retired to enjoy lunch.  During this time, they could interact some more and build further relationships.

Later in the afternoon, they all gathered in the hall for choir practice in preparation for Sunday’s divine service.

After choir practice, the young people enjoyed an evening of singing and dancing while preparing a scrumptious braai for dinner. After dinner, they all retired to their sleeping quarters for a good night’s rest.

On Sunday morning 16 October 2022, the young people’s divine service was conducted by Priest C Njamela.

After the divine service, they played a few games and then set off to the Madonna and Child Waterfall, a well-known, picturesque site in Hogsback.  The young people thoroughly enjoyed the experience at the waterfall, enjoying fun and laughter, while taking many pictures.

A beautiful and blessed weekend was concluded with a delicious lunch.  Thereafter, many thank-you’s and words of appreciation were exchanged by a happy and joyful group of young people.  The young people leaders wished everyone well on their way to their various homes.

What a memorable weekend, not to be forgotten any time soon!!
