On 14 October 2022, 81 final year Confirmands and 18 teachers from the Gelvandale District in the Gqeberha-Karoo Apostle Area travelled to the Sumcay Camp Centre, Perseverance, Despatch for a Confirmation Camp. The excitement on arrival at the venue could be seen on everyone’s faces in anticipation of the weekend’s programme.
The purpose of the Confirmation Camp was to enhance the spiritual preparation of the final year Confirmands as they prepare for their passage from Sunday School into the New Apostolic young adulthood. The weekend’s activities included a fun “Tik-Tok” challenge; a teaching on the importance of morning devotion; performing the Confirmation Vow as well as revising the 5 Pillars of Confirmation.
In preparation for the Sunday morning divine service, a choir and a recorder practice was held on Saturday afternoon. Whilst the focus of the weekend was on spiritual enhancement, fun was also the order of the day during the free time allocated to everyone.
The blessed weekend was concluded on Sunday morning with a divine service conducted by Shepherd Aneurin Kannemeyer. Prior to the Confirmands’ and their teachers’ departure, everyone was treated to a tea and snack session which also allowed the Confirmands an opportunity to network further and exchange contact details.
Everyone was thankful to the heavenly Father for the beautiful opportunity and for His protection throughout the weekend.
