The Sunday School Conference took place from 19 – 21 August 2022 in Cape Town and was attended by Apostle Area Co-ordinators of the District Apostle Area.
Delegates from as far as Namibia, Limpopo, Gauteng, KZN, and closer to the Cape Town area all braved the cold weather to attend the conference. The cold weather could not dampen the joyful atmosphere experienced by everyone.
Friday evening started with a meet-and-greet session by Quinton Isaacs who welcomed all the delegates as they arrived at the venue. This was followed by the opening and welcome by Bishop Adonis. After all the formalities, the weekend programme commenced with a presentation on teamwork presented by Heinrich Benjamin. Teamwork and leadership from the icebreaker exercise provided the foundation for the conference and the delegates moving forward into their respective areas of responsibility.
After breakfast on the Saturday morning, the official proceedings for the day commenced with a spiritual address by District Apostle J Kriel via Microsoft Teams. The message from the District Apostle was very impactful and inspiring, and left the group with the determination to do more for the children. The District Apostle concluded his address, requesting the team to ensure that our children are prepared for the future.
The objectives of the weekend:
- Delegates to familiarize themselves with the new curriculum for SS1 – SS4.
- Equip Apostle Area Co-ordinators to train the teaching body.
- Agree on a solid roll-out strategy and
- Focus on areas of Confirmation Strategies, Registration of Sunday School Children & Responsibilities and Roles of Sunday School Coordinators.
The sessions were informative, constructive, and very effective with everyone fully engaged. The day’s programme ended at 9 pm.
The weekend concluded with a divine service conducted by District Rector Shepherd Gavin Van Der Hoven. Soon the weekend was over, and it was time to depart from one another. In complete accord, the group confidently professed that the vibrancy and spontaneity of the weekend will linger in their memories for a long time. The team’s love for Sunday School just got greater!
