Looking at the intellectual and learning challenges children go through in their daily schooling career, the District Rector of Stellenbosch District, District Evangelist W Cicilie arranged for Sunday School teachers and Rectors to meet and address the impact of such challenges. 

On Saturday 27 August 2022, the group gathered in Klapmuts Church. The District Rector opened the workshop with a spiritual portion taken out of Ezekiel 34:15-16. The presenter, Ingrid De Jager, runs a NGO that specifically deals with children who are faced with intellectual challenges.

The following were covered during the workshop:

1. What is a disability?

2. How to handle children in Sunday School who are faced with these challenges.

3. Preparation for diverse groups of children in Sunday School.

During question time, a lot of teachers shared experiences of their own children who face some kind of disability and expressed their appreciation for the workshop. A follow-up workshop will be held in February 2023 to determine the progress made.
