On Sunday 31 July 2022, the congregations of Nyanga, Guguletu, Langa and Khayelitsha combined for a festive divine in Silvertown. The divine service was translated into Xhosa at the altar. The vibrant colours of the traditional dress of the members along with the moving renditions of the choir, children’s choir and congregation singing added a special flavour to the divine service.
Apostle R Worship conducted the divine service, and the Bible word Joshua 24:15 as a basis for the divine service, “And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Bishop A Witten and the Rectors of Duinefontein district accompanied the Apostle.
During the divine service, District Evangelist Henry Sassman was placed into retirement. The Apostle thanked him for his dedication over many years of working. Priest Ricardo Rudolph was appointed as Rector for Nyanga, and Deacon Hubert Mangali was ordained as a Priest for Guguletu.
